Cub Scout Pack 185

Cub Scout Pack 185 is chartered by the Bates Elementary School in Wellesley, MA.

Welcome to the 2022-2023 Scouting year  

The Cub Scouting adventure starts with a year-round family program designed for boys and girls in kindergarten through the 5th grade, or 6 to 10 years of age. The program emphasizes shared leadership, learning about the community, family understanding, character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. Children meet once a month for a den meeting (based on grade) and for a pack meeting (all kids, grades K-5.) Throughout the year, there are exciting overnight outings (accompanied by parents) at places like the EcoTarium, Museum of Science, Battleship Cove, Plymouth Plantation, and Nobscot Reservation. Everyone works on age-appropriate achievements at home, to earn badges which are awarded at our yearly Blue & gold advancement dinner.

Activities being planned for this year:

• September 10th 10am-1pm - Recruiting Event at Wellesley Hill Congregational Church at 207 Washington St - Open to the Public

• September 11th 4pm-6pm  - Model Rocket build and launch at Kelly Memorial Field - Open to any current and prospective scouts

• September 24th - Charles River Canoeing

• October  15th - Bates Pumpkin Fair setup

• October 16th - Fishing Derby on Lake Cochituate

• October 22nd - Scouting for Food Drop Off flyers

• October 22-3rd - Campout at Nobscot Scout Reservation

• October 29th - Scouting for Food Pickup

• November - Popcorn Drive - Our annual fundraiser

• November  20th - Pack Orienteering Scavenger hunt Hike at Longfellow Pond

• January 9th -  Winter Pack Meeting

• January 21st-22nd - Overnight at the EcoTarium

• February 11th - BC Basketball Game

• February 12th - Pinewood Derby Bandsaw day

• February 18th -Snow Tubing at Ski Ward - Session 1

• March 4th - Pat's Peak Ski Trip

• March 5th -Snow Tubing at Ski Ward - Session 2

• Friday April 14th or 28th - Wellesley College Observatory Visit

• Saturday April 22nd - Charles River Cleanup

• Sunday April 30th - New England FreeJacks Rugby

• Sunday May 21st - Wellesley Wonderful Weekend Veterans Parade

• Monday June 12th - Blue and Gold Dinner

Pack 185 welcomes ALL kids and ALL families  from schools throughout Wellesley.

If you would like to Join Pack 185 please contact our Pack at  pack185wellesley@gmail.com. We hold monthly pack meetings, monthly den meetings, and go on many fun overnights and day-trips.

Dens: Grade level units, around 8-10 children and two den leaders plus parents - usually meets once a month

Pack: All the dens combined from all grades- usually meets once per month plus day and overnight trips, service projects, and other fun activities
